More about this item

Here is a terrific piece of history.  This receipt was for mackerel purchased in 1885. Goods were purchased by someone in Sandy Hook, CT.  The paper is a salmon color.

I am very entertained by the fine print: "Keep your Mackerel and Herring full of pickle or they will rust & if exposed to heat will sour.  We cannot under any circumstances guarantee Codfish from turning red, nor smoked fish from spoiling, during the warm weather."

Receipt measures approx. 8 1/2 inches long and approx 6 inches high.  Prior to shipping to you , we will be professionally matting and framing this piece, using professional museum quality glass and frames - work performed by a professional firm who handles large  institutional clients in the Hudson Valley.   It will arrive read to hang on your wall.  It will be fully insured for shipping.  Local pickup is available.
